Frankton takes CIC control with win over Ole Miss

Landon Weins scored 28 points and Kayden Key added 22 as Frankton knocked off Mississinewa, 71-56 to take control of the Central Indiana Conference championship race.

Thabit Gault had 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Indians, while freshman Landen Swanner chipped in 10 and Jalen Martin scored nine.

The win moves Frankton to 6-0 in CIC play and drops the Ole Miss to 4-2. Oak Hill stands a game back of Frankton with one loss, but it was to the Eagles early in the season.

IWU men 2nd, women 3rd at Crossroads indoor

Noah Stratton and the Women’s 4x800-Meter Relay team got the Indiana Wesleyan University indoor track and field teams off to great starts during the first day of the Crossroads League Championships at Troyer Fieldhouse on the campus of IWU.

Stratton (600-Meters) and the relay team each won championships on Friday to help put the Wildcats in contention for the team titles on Saturday.

The Wildcats trail only Bethel (61) with 49 points. Taylor (46) is third in the men’s meet

Taylor (58) leads the women’s meet ahead of Marian (55) and Indiana Wesleyan (45).

Stratton’s 1:21.46 in the 600-Meters bested a field of 23 runners breaking his own school record which was set last week.

Julia Ridgway, Jill Van Dyk, Erin Couwenhoven, Jessica Sprinkles covered the 3,200 meter relay in 9:37.83 to win a league title.

The second and final day of the Crossroads League Indoor Championships begins at 10 a.m. today.
