Eastbrook student arrested on firearm possession charge

Jeffray Logan Knight, 18, of Van Buren was arrested Friday for possessing a firearm on school property. According to Sgt. Jim Kinzie of the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, the department received a call that someone had spotted a 22 gauge shotgun in Knight’s vehicle at Eastbrook High School. Kinzie said the firearm was in plain view.

The firearm never left Knight’s vehicle and there was no malicious intent, according to Kinzie.

“He accidentally left it (in the vehicle) when he left for school,” Kinzie said. “It was seen which was why we made the arrest.”

Knight, an Eastbrook student, was released from the Grant County Jail Friday after posting a $505 bond. Possession of a firearm on school property is a misdemeanor.
