James 'Jim' Russell Rogers Sept. 22, 1946 - March 8, 2018

James “Jim” Russell Rogers, 71, of Gas City, passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Corcoran, California, on Sept. 22, 1946, to the late Kenneth Russell Rogers and Mabel Jeanette (Dickerson) Kirk. On Feb. 12, 1965, Jim married Shelia Henderson, and she survives.

Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired 1st Sergeant. He proudly served his country for 23 years and was a member of the VFW Post 60 of Marion. He enjoyed bike riding, bowling on his WII gaming system, and his job at Lowe’s in Marion.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shelia Rogers; daughter, Sherri (Wes) Fagan, Clarksville, Tennessee; son, James Russell (Kathy) Rogers, Jr., Gas City; six grandchildren, Colby Fultz, Colleene (Toby Whelchel) Peterson, Christopher Fultz, Lindsey (Robert) Montano, Alex (Kelsey) Rogers, and Eric Fagan; eight great-grandchildren, Lucas Montano, Connor Peterson, Corbin Fultz, Cason Peterson, Callie Fultz, Titan Rogers, Cohen Fultz, and Reyna Montano; step-father, Denver Kirk; sisters, Linda Behrens and Debbie Shirar; and brother, Doug Kirk.

Preceding him in death was his mother, Mabel Kirk, who was from Marion.

In accordance with Jim’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
